yeah i didn't really get that analogy either... like someone saying they are a "christian" necessarily means they are actually espousing the true teachings of Jesus... IMO Jesus of the bible was an obvious liberal, as opposed to many of our modern day so called "christians" who are nothing but selfish immoral pricks and bigots
