And yet, they aren't doing well. Microsoft disappointed on earnings. Care to pretend that didn't happen either? What about Caterpillar's announcement? Care to put rose colored glasses on that? Do you even understand why a downbeat announcement from Caterpillar is important for understanding what lies directly ahead?

It's nice that CAT is a well enough managed company that they were able to beat on the bottom line, but their top line (Revenues) came in softer than most analysts predicted. In addition, CAT guided analysts down for the next year. That means they expect a softening infrastructure development environment in the next year. Is that the sign of a recovery or a contract? I'll leave it to your hopium to decide.

Caterpillar reported quarterly earnings on Monday that beat Wall Street's expectations, yet revenue came in below what most analysts had forecast. With global economic growth grinding to a near-halt, Caterpillar cautioned that the year's revenue and profits would come in below its earlier guidance.
