I bet Obama wins the electoral college and the Presidency and Romney wins the popular vote.
This is an area where we agree. Is there such a proposition for betting in Las Vegas?

Here is what I think it is going to be with the EC. Of the 9 battleground states:
OBAMA gets
OH
WI
IA
NV

ROMNEY gets
FL
VA
NC
NH

CO still a tossup (9 EC votes)

So final tally: Obama 277 Romney 252 (CO is up for grabs and it does not change anything)

Obama should send Biden to FL, VA and NH and he should stay focused on the OH belt, is what I hope he does.

We know that in this system, it does not matter who gets the majority of the popular vote. Mathematically, I don't see how a Republican who fails to get the EC gets a majority share of the popular vote. The safe Blue states have very large populations favoring Democrats in the popularity vote.

And I don't think anyone here disagrees that the economy did not slow during the July-Sept. quarter. It happens every year. Even hiring fall during that period. This time however the depressed situation in Europe will have somewhat of a larger impact on the US numbers during that period. You just have to look at Priceline's stock. It reflects the degree of travel/movement due to leisure and business. People are expecting a sharp drop in the travel numbers. Neither is FedEx doing well.

With Western economies on its knees, it is not prudent to hem and haw against the ones who are leading the pullout from the economic slump viz. China and India. This downfall of Western economies is also serving as a drag on those two economies. But I am sure that it does not need a Obama or Romney for the economies to pull out of the slump. Europe can join Asia in doing so and they will be successful.

I think Obama wins all three............lots of popular votes in NY, CA, PA, NJ and OH.
