When CYMER went public, the venture partner(s) specifically mentioned..

that they wanted CYMER to focus on the semiconductor market. Who's to say they won't venture out at some point? I think it was important to focus on a specific market and the SEMI is very profitable. It would have been difficult for a little company to expand etc..

CORH and a number..(many) of other laser manufacturers have a very
large production of medical lasers. It would be very difficult to
break into the market. Maybe it is better to be a big fish in a
small pond than a small fish in a big one.
