Night Writer,

A few weeks ago, I went around Chicago charging things on my Mother's credit card. I signed with special pads with special pens....I signed my name...I signed my Mom's name. Not once was I questioned or did the clerk even look at the back of the card or inquire as to why I had a girl's name. Nobody cared.

Credit card companies can afford to take the risk. Charging 19% interest alows for large write-offs....." You didn't charge it?...fine!...we will take it off your bill"............Happens alot.

Banks are not in the same boat. They are trying to clear 2% on the money people put into their banks. They can't lose 5% on all internet banking transactions....They can't say "You didn't transfer $10,000 to an offshore account?... Fine!..we will take it off your bill".... For $ 100.00..one time cost.......the banks can lend the fingerprint readers to folks who want to bank at home on their PC.....and their butts will be covered. Banks may be very big customers of IDX.........Banks will also want to agree on a standard. Pattern recognition...I would think.
