"Tough call. I consider fast & furious to be potentially worse because it looks like it was intended to be deceptive and politically motivated from the beginning." I think there is a whole additional level to this story that explains why no action was taken, making it similar to fast and furious. I consider that the normal human instinct to help in a situation like that is pretty well ingrained. Especially when the help is from a safe room somewhere far away. Especially when it is your specific job to help in these situations. Especially when there had to be military and intelligence advice as to what help was available. Especially with all the money and equipment and training we put into getting ready for just these situations. Especially watching it real time on HDTV. Especially when the adrenalin levels must have been running high, emergency, crisis, just what (some of) these people live for, why they went into their line of work. Especially knowing that 200+ people are concurrently seeing the same memos and video that you are. All of this pile of shit on one side of the scale, and yet no action was taken, something bigger overruled. So there must be an even bigger pile of shit on the other side of that scale. I think being caught in a transparent coverup of apparent incompetence and shuffling off the presidential stage with an "Aw shucks" is the best they can hope for. So I wonder what was big enough to override the obvious response. And I wonder what Obummer was doing from 4 PM est when the attack started and 5 PM est when he met with Panetta and whoever else. ARS
