I know. And here's something else. I recently read an article that polled ladies about their views on increases in prices at the grocery store. They reported increases in staples of as much as 100% on most key basic items, since 2008. But our government holds CPI down through various tricks, including hedonics. Unfortunately for retired folks, that means their Social Security payments are not increasing to keep pace. My mother is on a fixed income and I've seen first hand how the last few years has hammered her budget. Luckily, she has my brother and I to pitch in to smooth things out. However, this is killing the savers and the folks on fixed income. Bernanke is a monster. Worse, he's a psychopath, because he's utterly convinced that he's smarter than all Americans and can manage the economy single-handedly and better than millions of market participants determining price discovery based on supply and demand. What amazing hubris. Usually, you don't see that kind of megalomania except in psychopaths.
