Probably some of the most compelling new features, to upgrading users, are the cloud integration, Skydrive integration, Skype integration, "contracts" between apps allowing for generous core OS social integration, the photograph integration across facebook / phone / Google, and side-by-side support of new modern UI apps from the store with legacy apps. The interactive desktop start-screen UI that provides lots of nice update information at a glance is rather nice, too. The global search is nicely integrated as well. But thats really just my initial take, there is really an awful lot baked into it that I have not discovered yet.
