And the guy who won't take the full time job but would rather continue feeding off the Govt entitlement feeding trough has NO DUTY to society? Shouldn't we all have an equal responsibility to society? Or is my responsibility greater since I have worked harder/smater than others?>> I don't know what you are teaching your children, but it sure isn't logic, or sound political science or social science. They need to understand logic and the social sciences. What you are doing above is complaining. Nothing more. In this country we have made it clear we are willing to let 9 guilty people go free rather than convict one innocent person. A social safety net works the same way. Sure people will take advantage of it, but we liberals understand that is the price we pay to make sure that 70 year old sick poor person is taken care of. You right wingers are perfectly willing to throw the baby out with the bath water. Democracy is not perfect, but better than all other systems of government. Social systems are not perfect, but better than anything we had prior to 80 years ago!! <<We removed our child from public school for exactly that reason. I can't tell you how many parents we knew when our child was in Elementary School we have met, saying they wish they had the resources to have taken their children out of formal education into home school. Their kids ended up in Rehab and in some cases dead from overdose. The pressures of socialization were huge. Kids with too much money and time. The schools and teachers are unable to deal with the issues. We have no regrets about home school, not one, best thing we ever did. >> I and most of my friends got all of our education at public schools and got great educations. I, and most of my friends, educated our kids in public schools. My older daughter went to UC Berkely as did her husband and their public educations allowed both to compete in one of the most competitive universities on earth (most noble prize winner of any university). Then my daughter went on to Loyola to get a law degree and her husband to UC Irving to get his PHD degree in atmospheric chemistry and is a professor of physics, climatology and thermodynamics at a northwestern university. My younger daughter went to the University of Oregon and got one degree in environemental science and is pursuing another in computer science and a graduate degree in Quantitative analysis. Both kids have their kids in public schools. We all believe in a strong public school system.
