I don't know what you are teaching your children, but it sure isn't logic, or sound political science or social science. They need to understand logic and the social sciences.

They were taught to work, and be self-sufficient. Expect nothing from the Government. There is no safety net. You get what you work for. Be financially secure and conservative. I can take care of myself when I am 70, because of the personal choices and sacrafices we have made in our lifetimes.

Our son went to a two year college, punted on going to UCSD because he said the computer science programs are 5 years out of date to current technology. At 22 he was making $95,000 as a application programmer, and bought his first house in San Diego County at 23. He has no Student Debt, and is decades ahead in financial terms versus his friends who graduated from a four year school saddled with $150k in Student Debt.

The problem today is that children are pushed by parents to attend "prestigious universities" and take out huge loans to get degrees with largely little commercial value, so their parents can tout to there friends or on internet chat forums that " my johnny went to Berkley ". Leaving the kids with huge financial obligations. Then attempt to blame the Government for providing them a loan for a education with no commercial value. Somehow claiming that the Government shoulf have vetted their loan application to make sure their choice of education has commercial value.

My younger daughter went to the University of Oregon and got one degree in environemental science and is pursuing another in computer science and a graduate degree in Quantitative analysis.

In other words.. 150k in student debt to get a degree with no commercial value. Now back for another 100k to get a useful degree. So she will be 25 with 250k in student debt... But, you can tell all of your "friends" that Little Suzzy graduated from Oregon. Nice... You can be proud... Now, its time to climb on the "Vacate our Student Debt because it isn't fair we have to re-pay the loans we agreed to re-pay." liberal bandwagon..

And so it goes,
