I'm totally anti-religion, but I do want a just, humane society, which means educating the poor & providing for all. That makes me a Socialist in your book.
You, on the other hand, want to get rid of the WIC. I bet you're very religious. It seems to work that way.

MM, what is Obamaphone?

MM, as much as I respect you----we part ways on this issue of "Welfare Industrial Complex." That's an old worn out meme that is not relevant any more---Clinton with the Gingrich congress reformed welfare like nobody else has and we don't have people taking advantage like in the 70s/80s.

Did you read my 2 posts on who Medicaid covers? And how Ryan's cuts would force either greater payments by those of us, including you, who have insurance or cutting back the # of folk it serves..

As one post similarly asks, I must ask you, MM: are you willing to go into a hospital room to tell a mom and dad that their child with cerebral palsy is being discharged earlier than medically recommended because of the cuts that you support? That his 21 day course of antibiotics is being cut short to 10 days even though it's medically unsafe to do so. When asked by these frightened parents of the consequences, are you willing to tell them that their child's infection wiill return with even fiercer symptoms but he won't be eligible for care?

To tell the mom who did not abort her multiple needs child but our society is unwilling to help her child have the basic health care needs met....

Here's a project for you, if you have the time and are willing: check out the tax breaks, loopholes and incentives that the oil companies and other major corps have received over the past 20 years and compare it with the amount spent on the poor....Medicare and Social Security don't count since those folk payed, invested in it with their own money earned while working.

I don't know the exact numbers and I am genuinely interested in what you find...

Military Industrial Complex Quotes and Sayings

We have to make education a priority, but all this debate about education and testing is almost beside the point. We only spend a fraction of the money on education that we spend on arms buildups. Under a Kucinich administration, education becomes one of the top domestic priorities. We put money into it. We cause the government to be vitally involved in it. And we make sure our children have the love of knowledge.

The only way to meet pressing social needs and be fiscally responsible is to cut the runaway Pentagon budget, which now almost equals the military spending of all other countries in the world combined.

It's a mistake to think that poor people get the benefit from the welfare system. It's a total fraud. Most welfare go to the rich of this country: the military-industrial complex, the bankers, the foreign dictators, it's totally out of control.

War is never economically beneficial except for those in position to profit from war expenditures.
Ron Paul - Economy - Military Industrial Complex - War - Profits

Welfarism and excessive spending and deficits and socialism divide us, because everybody has to go to Washington. Those who have the biggest clout, whose who are the best lobbyists, those who go and they grab. And whether it's the medical industrial complex, or the banking industry, or the military industrial complex, that's who ends up controlling our government.
