> The Mini is for the person who wants an iPad but prefers the small form factor. Maybe some of those people bought Nexus 7's, who knows. The Mini does very little for the person who wants an iPad but can't afford it.

I can think of two markets where a mini would garner additional sales:

1) families with one iPad everyone fights over - a lot of families are going to buy another so the kids can have one to fight over

2) business travelers for whom the 10" is just too big and an iPhone is too small - as someone pointed out here the "chicks" can fit this in a purse

I would also argue that there are people for whom, a $70 difference in price would entice them, certainly when the next generation is released and the current generation drops below $300 a 25% discount will entice. At that price I might buy one, and I think I'd actually prefer the mini. I really have no need for a pad other than to check TitanTV to see whats on, and maybe check reviews on movies, but I'm sure I would find other uses.

The cannibalization issue is a non issue. I'm guessing:

1) they make very close to the same amount on the mini as they do on a low end biggie, probably higher margin

2) it will add customers.
