<<A better Microsoft search engine?

That thought has been rumored before. I just read the Fortune article on MSFT's research efforts. In it, they describe their work on deciphering sentences and other natural language processing efforts. They made a reference to Bill Gates discussing the application of the research to a better web-searching agent.>>

My understanding is that Mr. Gates has his hooks into anything related to computer technology -- genetic programming, agents, machine learning (so he can have computers write their own programs so he no longer has to pay salaries to employees), etc, etc, etc. He'll no doubt put everything into it except the kitchen sink. But what difference does it make -- I'll still use Yahoo!

There are many, many search engines on many, many different web pages -- Yahoo! is evolving into an internet community so whether or not there is a different search engine elsewhere doesn't really matter a whole lot.
