At some point the Rep primary winner has got to figure out that picking a running mate who is nutty is not a good strategy.

yes, well, the problem is that they think that picking someone who might pass as sane to the rest of the country was a bad idea. Here is one reaction--

Maybe Republicans should try running a Conservative.

In a year in which the incumbent was so hated that anyone could win Republicans managed to lose by running a New England liberal. Four years ago they lost with a war hero liberal. Republicans don't get excited to vote for a liberal.

Obama needed to be defeated.

In the end Romney thought his winning the first debate was enough. It was not enough to look and act Presidential after a single win. And then Sandy came and swept more than the democrat controlled upper Eastern seaboard away. Sandy swept away the chance America had to redeem herself.

Blame it on the weather.

It got 7 Recs and several responses--

Amen. If we're gonna lose, let's lose with an upfront conservative from now on. Where is Mr Electable now? Romney / Ryan boycotted Fox News (they complained about that last night), they boycotted talk radio, they never uttered the words tea party. They never spoke to an evangelical or conservative Catholic leader or organization. They treated conservatives like they were ashamed of them. But what did it get them?

When Romney criticized the apology to Egypt after the Benghazi attack, the press criticized him so he backed off and never uttered a critical word about Benghazi after that. He let the media tell him what he could or couldn't say. Other than Fox News, the media blacked out coverage and Romney let them get away with it.

Romney picked a budget expert but mostly didn't let him talk about the budget. Where did they rap Harry Reid for flouting the Constitution over not passing formal budgets? They didn't. They mentioned the debt but they didn't tell Americans we're on the road to bankruptcy.

We're fighting demographics and mass cultural indoctrination, not shifting weather patterns. Sandy didn't elect Obama. We've got to face reality and take this election to heart IMO, otherwise we're on a fast slide to oblivion.

They believe in a bygone fantasy world where America was pure and great and hard working and self-reliant. They don't bother with details of the sources of American wealth that partially contradict that fantasy.

"Ryan was a significant component in Romney's loss."

I agree with this. You notice how he became invisible fairly early on. I think the Romney people noticed your observation as well. Like most ideologues, he just can't shut up about his peculiar craziness, but doesn't actually have the math to back it up.
