Bill,

I can try to answer that on a personal basis as I probably consider myself more closely aligned with their beliefs than the Republicans.

I am a Catholic. I oppose abortion "personally", but I would never think that I could ever impose my belief on anyone else in any "legal" way, I would only speak my mind if asked and stress that it was my personal viewpoint. (I was not always pro-life until someone said something as simple as, "who speaks for the child"? when confronted with her body her choice.)
Also, you will never get me to accept to pay for someone's abortion.

Marriage in my mind as a Catholic is a sacrament, one man one woman, and must be left as such.
I have no problem with gays doing whatever they want to do, call it a civil union, give them the benefits they want, but do not call it marriage.

Regards,

Bob

Neeka, does the Tea Party have an opinion on social issues like abortion and gay marriage? Or are they just budget hawks, tax opponents and strict constructionists?

I ask this because, as we all know, two TP candidates said inflammatory things about rape and abortion which were seized upon by the DNC media to smear all republicans.

Bill,

I think the Tea Party backed sarah Steelman in Mo....and or John Brunner- Akin is an old line insider...

foxnews.com

Sarah Palin is mounting an aggressive campaign in Missouri -- in television and radio ads, in automated telephone calls, even serving barbecued pork sandwiches at a rural political picnic. She's urging residents to vote for Sarah -- Sarah Steelman, one of three Republicans in a prickly U.S. Senate primary.

Fresh off a resounding Republican runoff victory by Ted Cruz in Texas, Palin and the tea party movement now are trying to capitalize in primaries this month in Missouri, Wisconsin and Arizona. But they may pose a more difficult test than in Texas, where the charismatic Cruz waged an outsider's campaign against the Republican establishment's pick of Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

Depends on which TP supports them. There is more than one TP organization. I didn't pay attention to which ones supported Akin and Murdoch.
