In a crappy economy they may be able to survive manipulating retail workers hours. If and when the labor market tightens I don't see how they will be able to hold onto enough workers. Most of these stores end up paying a crappy but better wage to a manager or supervisor to pull the whole mess together. Juggling a work force to keep them under 40 hours a week to avoid overtime and even lower to keep them part time in order to avoid the meager benefits already available.

The people you see in your supermarket or local restaurant are the ones voting for Obama. So many services and products to buy cheap from China. Way too many people competing for a crappy job in some retail outlet.

ONE of the huge problems with Obamacare is that it taxes employment. A cardinal rule of taxation is that you tax something you want less of. Well - I do not think we want less employment - but that is what will naturally happen.

IMO if it has to be - it would be far better funded via a tax on consumption.
