Not trying to be a negative nancy, but has anyone considered that there's an engineer somewhere at Apple who might be wearing his ass for a hat? What if, in the end, they have to decide that it can't be done? A completely new process in mockup is not the same as in mass production. Redesign and retool would take a long time. In the mean time the company is without one of its flagship products.
It could happen, but I think Apple would be able to go back to making the older models, possibly with updated processors and system boards. If I were Tim Cook, I'd have a backup plan already in motion.
