What country do you think might make a good one to escape to? I figure there are some around the world where my wife and I could spend out or days on relatively little money. Just trying to figure out where we're going to end up.I think a good nanny-state where everything's taken care of sounds good. Need something nearby so we can come back and visit the kids now & then. Let me know if you have any suggestsions ;)

New Zealand...going there on vacation next year.

Inode,

I have no idea, except that the countries with the most comprehensive "nanny state" programs also have the strictest immigration policies.

Alghieri mentioned NZ, but Kiwiland isn't what it's cracked up to be, according to a couple that I know who used to live in Orange County, CA. They moved there after he was sick of dealing with Medicare patients and she was sick of dealing with CA teachers unions. Now they want to move back.
