Correlation is not causation. There were lots of other factors, not the least of which was the massive deficit spending that occurred at the same time.


One need only look at the following to see that the debt increase under Barack Obama, which started THE INSTANT he took office, has outpaced any since Carter


But the deficit at the moment he took office was because of Bush. It has continued, although it has gotten better, because we hit the worst recession since the Great Depression. Because it came about due to structural reasons, those sometimes take a decade or more to recover from. Just ask the Japanese.

The greatest economic catastrophe in modern times was created by deregulation under George W. Bush and handed to Barack Obama as he assumed office. Which is why Bush hides under a rock to this day, and is never even mentioned by any Republican. The Republican president who must be forgotten!
