You don't know whether the doctor really needs to see you because of medical guidelines or because he just wants more money. You don't know whether the tests and the referrals are actually necessary because, frankly speaking, neither do the doctors themselves. That's why they have to know for sure.'

It's not always the Doc that's greedy. It's the system as well. Lets say you go to your GP for headaches and neck pain. Maybe you get an x-ray. Some pills. Then you go back and are refered to a neurologist. You get a CAT scan. If that doesn't work you get refered to a neurosurgeon who prescribes an MRI.

So you're made 5 doctors visits and two images BEFORE you really get what you needed in the first place which was an MRI.
