I'm not sure if you are serious, but I'll take you at face value. When you are King, how will you pay for all the new roads? Certainly, not going to raise taxes, I hope? (Did you know that an area the size of the entire state of South Carolina of the US is paved. I fear if you were King, the whole thing might get paved.) ;-) My thinking is the reason that govt grows is that individuals and corps keep finding new and inventive ways to steal from their neighbors, destroy the commons... Somebody's got to stop them or slow them down. The world population being bigger than ever, the more stealing goes on, the bigger the challenge to control it... Govt grows... People are not entirely evil. People, perhaps like you, invent and develop new good stuff, take care of old ladies... But it doesn't take a lot of bad apples to lead to bigger govt. My preferred solution: Better birth control and the moral will to use it. Smaller populations will lead to smaller govts...
