I was in a rather severe lock down with students, large students, lots of athletic boys, and we agreed we could beat someone to death with a desk if need be. I can easily lift a heavy school desk over me head, and if that fell on someone, with some force, I think it would stop them. My argument was- if we all attack, there is no way we all die, and we stop a criminal. We can do that. Granted, I am in high school, and my students are capable of defending themselves like that. Kind of glad I don't have an axe in the room, though. I mean- high school students, you know?

I just had a talk with students yesterday about this. We don't want to die like sheep. And you don't want to be a lone heroic idiot. Get organized, and beat the guy to death. A group can do that. Yes they can. You just need to have the will, and to know you can do it. Or at lesat you can die trying. That's if you can't make yourself safe. Making yourself safe is the first priority, of course. But assuming that isn't happening. I'm making weapons out of what I have.

Look at the bright side, I'd rather be mistakenly shot than have epicure mistakenly beat me to death with a heavy desk. g. Ed
