To change the subject a little, I heard today that the Telephone Companies and ISPs will be required to provide internet access to all rural areas. This will be payed for with higher phone rates for the rest of us (about $50 per family). Starting at about 2 Billion next year and going up from there, this may have a major impact on ASND. The FCC will also require all schools to be connected to the internet. What do you think?

John,

Give the guy a break!! Maverick is one of the most prolific posters on this thread. He consistently makes extremely valuable contributions from a very technical and informed perspective. I must have missed your posts John.

I share Maverick's "forecast" wholeheartedly, and as I have posted previously would go a step further in suggesting that ASND will not only meet estimates of .23 per share for the Q, they will beat them handily. THE QUARTER IS GOING WELL.

Compared to all the crap that I read on this thread about ASND going to $12 and $14 a share with no substantiation offered, I'd much sooner put some confidence in statements from someone who has been right time and time again!

Look, I don't know the answers either, but to go offering assurances that any company will make numbers is outright LYING!

John,

Maverick has consistently been among the most accurate and reliable contributors on this thread. Furthermore, his post about 23cents was quite consistent with that from another contributor to the thread who had just heard from an analyst that the company was indicating about 23cents and 290MM sales. (You can dig up that post, I'm too tired tonite to dig through old posts).

ASND got dragged down today by downgrades to the chip sector, CS earnings and, now, a warning by COMS. Can't really blame the company for that. If anything, it seems to me that the company was one of the first to get its order flow problems behind it. At this juncture, although it is difficult day by day, you just have to give it time.

I'm sure Maverick is as exasperated as the rest of us. Having gotten the bad 3Q behind us (one in which ASND still earned 20cents/share), it is tough to suffer, now, through the bad fortunes of those who have bad quarters ahead of them. Ultimately, the earnings will drive the price up, if ASND is independent long enough for that to happen.

john you need to take maverick's statement in its totality, including prior posts from maverick. with all the data that asnd has offered (ceo statements), plus contracts,... maverick is not sticking his neck out.

assurance is not a guarantee, but one free from doubt. you are mixing terms, similar to people who confuse belief with knowledge.

tim does not provide data to back up his numbers which change hourly (short term trader)<vbg>, maverick posts many articles and news and interprets these "facts" conservatively in my opinion (ie no buyout, numbers will be beaten by .20...).

"What an utterly foolish statement. How can you, Maverick, possibly provide any assurances? Unless you know for fact that ASND will meet earnings, this is really lame. What's the guarantee if they don't make the numbers?..."

One can easily understand that you are in a less-than-friendly mood due to your major disappointment in ASND. Sure, there are some hypings and lies on SI but if you have been following the ASND threads you will have noticed that Maverick is a consistent, signficant contributor. From what one can tell, he seems to have access to certain info which, apparently, are not available to the general public. If his past postings are any indications, I tend not to dismiss his guarantee. Needless to say that we will know what the facts are shortly but meanwhile it might be to our advantage to have an open mind.

<<I assure you that ASND will meet the consensus estimate of $0.23 for the 4th qtr ending 12/97 with relative ease.>> Maverick

Maverick's statement merely sounds like his strong opinion, to me. There's nothing wrong with that. I agree with him, by the way. I'm not sure how long you have been following his posts, but he has been one of the most reputable on this thread, both for his technical insight and uncanny ability to call developments before the fact.
