df,

I have to agree with you. I view COMS problems not as a problem with the sector, but with the fact that CSCO is so dominate. CSCO is one of my long term core holdings. With the ongoing problems of CS, COMS and ASND, it is starting to appear that CSCO will become THE dominant network player, with everyone else feeding on scraps. I expected this to happen at some time in the future, but I am amazed at how fast it appears to be coming together.

If you make the assumption that networking will be a huge growth business over the next several years (I am betting my career on it as a Network Engineer) then CSCO is an absolutely great opportunity.

To be sure, CSCO will continue to be a volitale stock. I have been tempted to write calls against my positions to profit from these price swings, but don't want to risk losing the stock -- and losing a great long term play. I will continue to hold and sleep well at night.

Regards
