The assumption of cumulative risk at a constant rate is not likely to be true. So while I agree that minorities are at greater risk, the 3% number as calculated in this article can't be right. It is not like sequentially surviving year after year without a meteor impact which is expressed as an annual risk times the number of years you live. Behavior matters and unlike dying from meteor impacts, what you are doing and how you live affects whether you will be murdered or not.
