Liberal, Conservative, Libertarian, (and the expected nut cases worldwide) are ideological terms.
In the US, when it comes time to vote there is only Democrats & Republicans.

I have many friends in the US who vote either Democrat or Republican. We don't talk about the vote. We talk about ideology, and know when its time to call a break in our talk.

IMHO, Its important to separate voting from ideology.
