They had to have a special tutoring program for them (and in one instance were given the actual test answers for a test) and still they failed. So while I'd like to join hands with you and sing Kumbaya and get everyone a fabulous job, not everyone is intelligent enough, or temperamentally suited to college, and a lot of students cannot remediate themselves enough to hack college. It is cruel to send students (black, white and other) off to college, to rack up huge loads of debt, when they haven't a shot at ever succeeding. >. That is so elitist. The thing I really like about poker, is when I run into elitists, I can take their money and then we see who's theories are correct. I developed three statewide programs and all we so successful the governor's appointed me state Director of those offices when I was barely 30. EMS, Alcoholism and Drug abuse and coordinating the Valdez oil spill for H and SS. I also worked on many governors races. I have spent my life with the best and the brightest and am able to compare their Intellectual abilities with my friends from Richmond. Same ol, same ol. I saw no difference and that includes while at the colleges. My inlaw was the chairman of the statistics department at Berkeley and wrote books on theoretical statistics. That is about as smart as one gets. So I can handicap intellectual ability just fine. My kid went to UC Berkeley. Right out of high school. The other went to U of Oregon. She and all of their friends are normal kids and matched wits with your geniuses just fine.
