Very well said. Obviously, the "Big Bang" at this point is meaningless conjecture and probably makes as much sense as the idea that the sun circles the earth, goes underneath it where it must sleep (after all, we do), and then goes across our sky to watch us and help us. It is probably pulled by a team of horses.

What we know as our expanding universe could be merely a soap bubble in the set of universes. It might even be a defective soap bubble whatever that might mean. One of the problems is that we can only see light that has reached us....which means we live in a (probably) tiny bubble dimension of space and time. Looking at galaxies as they were billions of years ago is fun but does not really scratch the itch. And those people see our Milky Way as it was about 12 billion years ago. So they definitely don't see us! Like the ending of Grand Hotel...nothing much ever happens around here...

So how do we deal with all this uncertainty? Certainly not by pretending we know things we don't. We need to do the only thing we can. Live and learn and learn to live. Don't pick a fight with an elephant. Don't do heavy drugs. Buy the expensive steak, sometimes. Ask for sex--often. If you ask enough--you just might get. And remember...there are alternatives to chopping up a piece of wood on the hour every hour. You cannot copulate with a piece of wood--at least knot easily. -g-
