Krugman really has a thing for Obama doesn't he? Maybe Krugman is pissy mad because they never ask him what he thinks?

<<<<< It has less to do with where Obama ended up than with how he got there. He kept drawing lines in the sand, then erasing them and retreating to a new position. And his evident desire to have a deal before hitting the essentially innocuous fiscal cliff bodes very badly for the confrontation looming in a few weeks over the debt ceiling.>>>>>

The difference between an ideologue and a leader. An ideologue gets to stand in the corner and preach - a leader facing the consequences of an inaction must be more pragmatic. ..........

If Obama stands his ground in that confrontation, this deal won’t look bad in retrospect.

To the extent that Obama was able to move potential hostages from their grasp, he should be able to succeed in the debt limit negotiation

..AKA the fight to pay for Bush's made up wars for re-election

Demographics will preserve the "grand bargain"---in some form. Helped by the amazing efficiencies coming in energy production and supply thanks to shale gas and oil and restoration of our balance of payments equilibrium due to this.
