"As I understand it, those initial reports were incorrect. However, even if not true, assault weapons have been used in other massacres and must be banned." The question in my mind is how this information, if correct, will effect those people who were significantly impressed by the attention given to the weapons issue. I understand it wont effect people who were already strong on their position but I'm hearing some people complaining now about having been misled. I don't know how wide spread that is. Some people are pissed about it, some probably thought seriously about the issue for the first time and have formed a new position against assault weapons. Gun sales seem to indicate more people wanting to own guns.
