The form of the governmental/economic system we currently have (modified capitalism democracy) is already a wealth redistribution system. The two parties just argue about the degree of the distribution. And basically those are the arguments posted here--to what extent the redistribution should go to (higher or lower taxes) and to what extent the government shold interfere in both our personal and economic lives.

Mostly we've opted for balancing tests to determine this ( in the courts constitutional wise) or by changing parties thru elections in the democratic process. We are constantly seeking a state of equilibrium between views that can not be reconciled (witness this board) and that is our dynamic tension.

Koan, IMHO, sees Obama as the lesser evil and not as a positive force for the government programs he would have implemented.
