Like with personal computers, I think app selection matters quite a bit...even for those who likely would be fully satisfied by the offerings on the Windows market. It isnt about what they actually need, but what they might need.

It's a weird market. A good argument could be made that the Nokia 920 is the most advanced phone on the market. Better screen, much better camera, NFC, colors, wireless charging, even WP8 makes iOS look a little stale. Most rugged smartphone ever made. Downsides are weight, apps and ecosystem.

The smartphone consumer doesn't seem very smart.
Why do you say smartphone consumers aren't smart? Because they don't by a really good phone with a crummy ecosystem?

Maybe ecosystem matters. Maybe it matters a lot, like so many of us have been saying for years now. That would be another explanation. Just a thought.
