Okay, so not much changes from the content provider (e.g., MTV). They still transmit the same stuff. The cable provider collaborates with ACTV to provide the subscriber (me) with ways to view the content in new ways.

So, MTV, the cable provider, and ACTV are all making money from this, which means the subscriber (me) is paying. Is that where the money comes from? The subscriber pays a premium for the service?

Put another way, the cable provider and ACTV provide the new service, and the subscriber pays for it (if he wants it). MTV is out of the mix.

One thing I'm not sure about: something must be different at MTV's end. Instead of transmitting one signal, they now must transmit multiple signals. Doesn't that require new hardware and software? Who supplies that?

Ed and all, thanks for your patience.
