Henry, that is not what you are seeing for bid and ask. What you are seeing is the best bid and the best ask. For example, an ask of 13 3/4 and blk size of 1000, means this is the best price the stock is being offered for 1000 shares. The rest are for same or more.When no one took the 13 3/4 it was either withdrawn or lowered.The bid is raised because someone was willing to pay more.
