Scrapps I think capacity is something to consider in what you are talking about. CD-R is probably a better place to keep your business stuff. Capacity there is not as likely to be a problem, not to mention the benefits of durability and opportunity to read them most anywhere as CD's are more available in an emergency than say a Jaz. But the overhead of keeping it uptodate as a bootable environment, I think, would wear the benefits side a little thin.

Pictures probably gets a thumbs up for CD-R, if you're talking digital cameras. 1M per picture means beau coup pictures per disk, but if stored in full Kodak glory, could mean only 125 or so per disk, the way a current Photo CD is. In that case it is a little easier to just get them on Photo CD's to begin with. (Not to mention media cost.)

As for games, there I don't think capacity would be enough, if you are using these games that require lots of VR data from their CD's already.

I am waiting for some of these prices to begin to come down for myself, as I will remain a CD/Zip guy for the moment. It could well be that the newer GMR drives that could be available in '99 at reasonable prices, would allow me to have 10 to 20 GB on line at all times. That would probably fill my immediate needs, with regard to all of the things you mentioned being available all the time.

Scrapps, I haven't studied up on them yet myself, but I've
been thinking of a Jaz drive and now am wondering about the CD-R drive.
same here, after I noticed some CD-R drives down to $300 or less it has really caught my attention.

and even (is it possible?...don't know)have each disk boot up the PC with it's own configuration for those programs Hmmm, I don't know bout that. That sounds like seperate boot disk's for DOS games, I use to hate that.
