Hi tejek; People reading about the polarization of the parties and that nice chart need to be aware that (1) the chart was made by US academics who are probably rather left wing, and (2) the chart is about the tendency to support government control of the economy.

In other words, it's not about things like gun control, which seems to be the topic of the day.

The argument about big government versus small government will eventually approach a crisis. When we can no longer pay for big government. I'm calculating this as happening about 20 years from now, depending on how fast the rest of the world catches up to us economically.
