And during Jobs' management the stock went sideways several years. Most of the general public thought Jobs was incompetent because he looked more long range rather than quarterly bottom lines. Ayuh, you tell 'em Doren! Them young 'uns know next to zilch about the long history of AAPL. BESIEGED was how Apple was characterized in just about every article written about it at the time. And that adjective stuck for a long, long time. Was there for the whole show ;-)
