Obama doesn't need to destroy them. They're willing to kill themselves. For which I thank them. When their cold dead hands clutch their weapons for the last time, I promise to send flowers. Until then, I hope the cadaver watch continues.

Another way to view this conflict is that in order to put the country on a sustainable course, the GOP must be neutralized

I don't see this as necessarily an attack on the GOP as much as an imperative to salvage the country

The fact that GOP policies are based on advancing special interests whose objectives are not aligned with the good of the country, necessitates their rejection

If the GOP opts to fall on that sword, in order to try and ban abortion, delegitimize gay marriage, protect gun makers, repeal Obamacare, privatize Social Security, defund Medicare, steal elections, wreck the economy, ad nauseum...

They will have done it to themselves

The fact that it is Obama's job to advance policies that conflict with these positions and the very advocacy of those alternatives might serve to marginalize the GOP is not an intentional attempt to destroy the Republican Party on his part

They picked their poison

If they can't sell it and won't change, that is suicide, not murder

1. Why Obama Should Seek To Destroy the Republican Party
By John Dickerson | January 18, 2013

I would love to see Obama step down this path. Certainly, the Obama of his first term would not do so. Perhaps, there are faint signs he might do some or all of this in his second term. Very hard to tell. At least it's something to watch for.

I'd be perfectly happy if Obama spent the next four years destroying the Republican party. He spent way too much of the last four years trying to cooperate with a party that's only goal was to destroy him. I see them as the greatest enemy of American progress at this time, more of a threat than terrorists or any foreign government, so it would be a NOBLE cause.

It should be SHAMEFUL to be a Republican, or even to have been a Republican.
