Hi Wayners; But you were responding to me, not combjelly. What I wrote is this:

It's silencers that one would need ATF permission to obtain. So my conclusion is that when the guy was talking about going hunting with a "suppressor" he really meant with a "silencer" which is commonly called a "sound suppressor" or "suppressor". If he'd meant a flash suppressor, he'd have written "flash suppressor", or "flash guard", or "flash eliminator", etc.

It's pretty clear I'm talking about "the guy" who was "going hunting with a suppressor" and had to get through some ATF paperwork. Here's the link:

Just ordered a .30 cal suppressor as well and it will take 5-6 months to clear ATF and get added to my trust. Would like to have loads worked up before then. May even consider hunting suppressed this year.

I certainly wasn't talking about combjelly who didn't mention ATF or hunting:

Of course I can't say what was in combjelly's mind when he wrote "invisible". It's common knowledge that suppressors help keep snipers "invisible" in the sense of being hard to find. It's even on the suppressor wiki page:

Aside from reductions in volume, suppressors also tend to alter the sound to something that is not identifiable as a gunshot. This reduces or eliminates attention drawn to the shooter (hence the Finnish expression: "A suppressor does not make a marksman silent, but it does make him invisible").
