So my conclusion is that when the guy was talking about going hunting with a "suppressor" he really meant with a "silencer" which is commonly called a "sound suppressor" or "suppressor". It's common knowledge that suppressors help keep snipers "invisible" in the sense of being hard to find. It's even on the suppressor wiki page: Aside from reductions in volume, suppressors also tend to alter the sound to something that is not identifiable as a gunshot.
