Steve,
Re -- I wouldn't have a presario at home....

Really, I expected better of you. Do you have a presario $799 PC at home. Dont tell me, you don't need one, otherwise you would have got one etc...

Re -- Unforntunately, you haven't hit what the real issue is on a presario...

Enlighten us.
-- If it is to put pressure on Intel, it won't work, because market dynamics will adjust to that in the long run.
-- If it is to increase units, thereby reducing costs thru volume, and to improve efficiencies, sure I could buy that.
-- If it is to make money on the low-cost per se.. You gotta be kidding, with the indirect channel, CPQ has its model back*ss words.
-- If it is to start a new trend, well maybe but the new trend would have happened anyway, and CPQ is just accelerating it.

So tell us steve, (IF YOU KNOW, WHICH I SUSPECT YOU DONT!!), what is the real issue!!

Re -- integration testing that I witnessed doesn't bare out you findings on athe AMD chip.

That is what CPQ does "integration testing" which proves nothing. There are reports of lock ups. Changing the electrical characteristics of a chip, will reduce its reliability and lifespan. But to CPQ it doesn't matter, since the first time customer doesn't know any better, right steve.
