well, I don't know. To gather electricity from the air it needs something to attract it. Tesla's coils did not produce electricity it gathered it from the heat in the air which is saturated with electrical energy. What looks like lightning coming from the device is actually rivers and tributaries flowing into the strong rivers of current attracted by the coil which is not connected to any source. Think the opposite of a tree branching out to the sky, but the branches of the tree growing toward the main trunk as the river builds from the attraction of the tree or roots?. . Lightning from storms is from the heat differentials in the air. Because of magnetism and the sun energy is stored in the atmosphere because the temperature is so far above absolute zero...energy comes from heat...it is the same energy the sun has provided and saturated our air....I don't think it has anything to do with dry end being insulated.

The other concept of the torus form and the coil is we do not see the invisible dimension of the energy field.....not 2d, 3D but 4D energy fields interacting.

2D

3D
