I don't know why he would pick Chile either. Not enough ozone, kleptomaniacs, earthquake zone. You are better off in Canada with a large garden. The trouble with owning big amounts of gold in a crisis is someone else is going to want some. You are safer developing a skill set that would allow you to live off the land. Can you imagine driving into an area full of starving desperate people and then proposing to order them around because you are waving a big bag of gold coins. A lot of people mistakingly believe Ayn Rand supported anarchy. What she supported was laissez faire capitalism which needs government sanction, support and enforcement.
