the insurance companies are greedy

A while back The Boss lent her car to her son who lives a couple hours away. He parked it in a small town grocery store lot and went to work.

Mid-day she had a call from GEICO saying her car had been smacked. They gave instructions on where to go for repairs and made arrangement for a rental while her car was in the shop. This transpired while her son was at work, yet unaware his Ma's car was damaged.

I've not dealt with AFLAC, but understand they have a pristine reputation.

In these examples businesses are assessing, pricing, and selling risk protection, then busting ass to maintain their public image. Where they screw up Insurance Commissioners exist to insure they honor contract.

The contemptible ignoranuses that pollute legislatures haven't much interfered with mandates outside their legitimate functions and they serve us well.

von Mises cited deeply religious predecessors who thought they witnessed the finger of God benignly stirring the pot where freedom exists. It's an insignificant minority that could recognize what he meant.
