My response got trashed so I'll only recreate some of it

Businesses on average pay $1500 for Desktops not $2800.

If someone doesn't need the extra features they can do
one of two things: a) buy them b) not buy them. This is
the way people have been doing it for a very long time<gg>

Workstations DO NOT make good servers. There are tremendous
differences in the way that they're desinged from
memory support to disk I/O, fault tolerance, video
performance etc. etc. Anyone who tried to buy a WS
for use as a server at their company would probably
be fired.

The other point is, there's nothing magically low about
the Epson price. It's ~$150 cheaper than the Dell.
I assume you are one of those who believes that a PC is a
PC is a PC. Correct? You can't adequately compare systems
feature for feature if you don't understand all of the
thechnicals. You surely can't compare across segments
like you were trying to do with Dell's workstation vs.
EPSON's home machine.

ASP's are trending down. That is understood. If you go
back 10 years you'll see that they've have consistently
trended down while PC companies have made more and more
money. I have an old 1990 ad for a Dell 25Mhz 486...
$8500. Can you believe that!?!

I've been going over the latest IDC report. It talks
about Dell's latest quarter with an interesting spin.
It also talks about the impact of declining ASP's.
I'll rehash the salient points and post later this
evening.

cheers
