<<Apple is nothing like those companies. The majority of their cash flow is from the iPhone and while there is some stickiness there, it is nothing like Windows. >>

Here are some things that we know:

Apple has a very valuable recurring revenue stream. We know from survey data that a very high proportion of folks who own Apple gear intend to replace it with Apple gear. This proportion is significantly higher than is the case for other platforms.

I think you discount the stickiness far too much. Surveys I have seen indicate that about 4 our of every 5 iPhone owners plan to replace their current one with another one. What more could you want of stickiness?

Agreed on Apple stickness - replacement cost close to zero and fashions come and go.

Not sure about the comparison between softie and QCOM. QCOM sustainability thus far depends great deal on its competitors inability to execute. On the other hand, the cost of replacement of windows platform with enterprises is very high and no good alternative on sight either.
