I will take this opportunity to share this odd wikipedia entry I stumbled on today, leading with a bit of dry wit. Well, I hope it was meant to be dry wit, anyway.

Jesus H. Christ is a common phrase used to refer to the religious figure Jesus Christ. The H is most likely a later creation as opposed to the real middle name of the man. [1]

The expression dates to, at the latest, the late 19th century, although according to Mark Twain it was already established in 1850. [2]Twain refers to an episode in his youth when he was working as a printer's apprentice. One of the other apprentices was criticised by the preacher Alexander Campbell for abbreviating "Jesus Christ" to "J. C." in the printed version of one of his sermons because it served to "diminish the saviour's name". The apprentice reset it to read "Jesus H. Christ". [3]

It gets a little too dry after that, I'm sort of hoping Mark Twain actually invented that story, and the H originated with him, but who knows. Anyway, continuing down the google list I found JHC's facebook page, facebook.com , which is moderately inspired. My fave was this little bit:

To which JHC added "You wouldn't believe how many times he brought that up in fights."
