i found out the first time i wore one that it didn't work in sub zero weather. one of the other hikers showed me how to wear it with my jacket over it. all i got was blocked ice in the tube. g

That sounds much more convenient than a canteen. A person has to stop to drink from one of those unless they want to get wet.
