First I've heard of that one.

Plenty of apps to set certain data usage, but I don't see any timers.

Buy you an egg timer, I use them for other things besides cooking....

Ding ding!

to set the Data function such that it automatically turns itself off after a set period, 30 minutes, or something like that?

No. Just checking though. You probably have a Wi Fi enabled phone. I switch off data altogether normally and just use Wi Fi for data in my office & home. I use some free sites too, ones that I know are usually OK.

Otherwise there is an alarm app I use for many things. There are 4 timer alarms on it these days.

You have to turn the data off or you will continue to be charged. Some of the apps on the phone and the ones necessary to keep it running continue to update in the background. You can delete all the apps but the ones necessary to run will reinstall automatically when you turn the phone on.

If you're on a monthly data plan where you pay for data in 2-gig blocks, you will notice an increase in data usage the day before it resets as the system apps all update and you get charged for the data usage.

I keep the data turned off unless I have something specific I use it for - like the hotspot.
