National Registry's Biometric Solutions Enhance Customer
Service at Westernbank

Unisys Integrates NRI's Finger-Imaging Technology into a Suite of Banking
Solutions to Protect Confidential Data and Streamline Customer Service

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Westernbank of Puerto Rico will use biometric technology
from The National Registry Inc. (Nasdaq: NRID - news; NRI) to secure access to confidential
customer information. The agreement, announced today, is part of an $8.5 million Westernbank
project that will include new branch systems, an integrated call center, and a fall virtual bank.

Unisys Corp. [NYSE:UIS - news], one of the systems integrators for the project, will incorporate
NRI's finger-imaging solution into the Unisys FBA Navigator branch automation suite that includes
Finesse 2000, the fully integrated sales and marketing solution, FBA Counselor, and FBA call center.

Additionally, Unisys will install NRI's Secure Authentication Facility for NT (SAF/NT) in
Westernbank's back office locations. SAF/NT will replace password identification with biometric
authentication when employees ''log-on'' to back office workstations. Westernbank customers also
will use National Registry's finger-imaging technology to perform selected transactions.

''We are pleased our relationship with National Registry enables us to bring a proven biometric
solution to Westernbank,'' said Israel Lorenzana, Unisys client relationship manager on the
Westernbank project. ''The integration of NRI's technology into Unisys applications will streamline
Westernbank's branch operations -- speeding teller lines and providing better audit controls -- which
ultimately benefit Westernbank and its customers.''

Westernbank has been on the forefront of banking technology and was the first bank in Puerto Rico
and the Caribbean to have an Internet presence.

''The primary reason for focusing on technology is to provide the best service and the most
conveniences to our customers,'' said Frank C. Stipes, Westernbank president and CEO. ''As we
have expanded the services and convenience we offer our customers, other banks have been forced
to expand their services and conveniences accordingly.''

Westernbank is a $1.54 billion financial institution with 34 branches in Puerto Rico. Considered a
mid-sized financial institution, Westernbank's performance ranks them among one the best based on
annual operational return on equity. The bank has been growing at a rate of 25% per year and is
expected to double its asset base by the end of the year.
