It is amazing to me that people are buying COMS at these prices.

The channel stuffed with inventory. Why, because the modems aren't
selling. On top of this prices are falling, margins are being
cut and COMS is making less money. If they clear up the inventory
problem, will that make the modems sell any better? Agreed they
will be able to better guide the analysts numbers, but will it be
up or down?

Last quarter Eric B. gave rosy prospects about COMS business and
outlook for the future. What happened?

IMO, COMS bounced back today because the MM are manipulating the
stock so they wouldn't lose their shirts. If this stock were on the
NYSE, it would have been crushed yesterday. This stock will certainly
head lower. COMS will take at least a few quarters of analysts
lowering numbers before they will meet or beat expectations again.
During this time, the pessimism will build and investors will
start to bail as the stock sits dead.

Craig is right. COMS will test it's 52 week low before all is said
and done. Yesterday morning everyone was patting him on the
back. By the afternoon, they were on the attack again. Don't be
suckered in by yesterday's action. Use the gift to get out.

My comment:

3COM CORP (35-11/16, up 3/4 @ 9:40am EDT) has been named in a
shareholder lawsuit, which claims the company misled the public
about the market for its modems. Law firm Bernstein Litowitz
Berger & Grossmann LLP said the suit was filed on behalf of
purchasers of 3Com stock between May 19, 1997 and November 6,
1997. The complaint also alleges that top executives at 3Com sold
shares of stock with prior knowledge that the company's public
statements about modem sales were false and misleading. (Reuters
